Good Morning Women Photographers,
I hope you are settling in to a fine New Year! This year is looking like it will be as exciting as last year was. We started off with a successful opening of our First Group Exhibit at Beaverton City Hall followed by a wonderful reception on January 9th for the photographers who were involved in the exhibit. We had a great showing from other members to support those who were exhibiting their images. In February, we will rotate some of the images, so it may look like a whole new exhibit! Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm.
I am excited about how much our group is growing. We have so many new members that I am beginning to lose track. But the website, luckily, does that for me. It shows that there are close to 200 active members. These members might be active online or in person. This meetup group is quite active with many opportunities each month to interact online or in person. This month we have already had three opportunities to meet new people and learn new things. We have a Photo Shop class still coming this month and next month. Plus we have a Intro to Creating your ow Portfolio and learning about HDR photography. We have not posted any photo shoots for January and February yet but they are coming soon. I hope you are all able to find something that interests you and helps you to grow.
For new people and a reminder for members who have been in the group for a while, annual dues of $10 are your obligations to pay. We ask that you pay through PayPal on the second meetup you attend. However if you sign up to attend a workshop with limited space, we asked that you pay your dues before attending that workshop. We feel this if fair for the members who have already paid their dues to have priority. Annual dues are paid each year the same month you paid originally. If you pain in Decemeber 2012, then you pay again in December of 2013. I periodically check but really it is just up to the individual to be aware of when your dues need to be paid.
The money from dues goes for venues, transportation, speakers, equipment and other expenses incurred by and for the group. One plan is also to pay for a projector for the group to be able to view images and critique our own work. If you have any questions, feel free to speak with me,
Thanks in advane and Happy New Year, Rae Lynn
