Sleepy Hollow Cemetery Tour

I planned this to be close to Halloween and because some members wanted a meetup outside the five boroughs. Sleepy Hollow is having tour guides there that day, for those who chose, it is 19.99, otherwise we'll just traipse along on our own.

I really want to go but unfortunately can't make it! If anything changes, I will check back in, Leslie!

I can organize a tour/hike of Dale cemetery In Ossining. It was established in 1851 and designed as a "rural cemetery" to take advantage of the contours of the land with winding paths and vistas.

Check out http://www.dalecemete... for more info on Historic Dale Cemetery. I am its historian and can organize a tour on any Saturday or Sunday. The cemetery designed by Howard Daniels a noted landscape architect of the mid 19th century who also designed several urban parks. Presently Dale encompasses some 37 acres of rolling land and it has some of the original unpaved paths that are excellent for hiking. I can do a descriptive tour if the group so desires. Dlae is located about 1. 5 miles from the Ossining Train Station on the Metro North Hudson line. We can meet there and carpool over.

Leslie, you plan to go via train at Grand Central? Do you know what time the train leaves? Will you try to make the meetup start at grand central?

    By Rail:
From Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, take Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson line to either the Tarrytown or Philipse Manor stations. Taxis are generally available at Tarrytown station’s taxi stand. From Philipse Manor, the cemetery is about a half mile walk.

Yes, for those of us without cars who are coming from the city, we will meet at Grand Central and take the train.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
