NVA 2013 Easter Family Potluck!

In March the Nebraska Vegetarian Association is hosting a free, fun-filled Easter celebration in Wildwood Park! We will be having an all-ages potluck/social gathering and a vegan treat-filled egg hunt for kids! Friends and family are welcome – spread the word!

Donations of one or two dollars to cover the cost of egg hunt supplies would be greatly appreciated! Parents are encouraged to bring enough egg-gathering baskets for their kids.

Since this is an outdoor potluck, please bring reusable plates, cups, and silverware. As usual, remember to label your food item(s) with known allergens (soy, wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs, etc.) and whether it's vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian. Please avoid peanuts and tree nuts, as some members have severe allergies. Passover-friendly dishes are a bonus!

Hope to see everyone there!

UPDATE: Looks like most of the rain's over by now, so our Easter potluck and egg hunt are still on for today! To give things a bit more time to dry up, however, we'll be delaying our event by one hour. See you all there at noon! :D

So would that mean the potluck an egg hunt are postponed or just the egg hunt?

    March 30, 2013

    • Matthew

Both the egg hunt and the potluck would've been postponed, though we're only postponing them by an hour. (See the other comment above.)

We're delaying by one hour so things can dry up a bit, so you've got some extra time! :)

    Looks super nice out now!

The ever-vigilant may have noticed that weather forecasts are showing a 50/50 chance of rain shortly prior to our potluck and egg hunt tomorrow. Since an egg hunt in the mud isn't much fun (though some may disagree), we may postpone our event to next weekend.

Watch this space - tomorrow morning we'll post a notice as to whether or not the event has been postponed. Thank you for all your support!

(If we do have to postpone, most likely it will be to Sunday April 7th, 11am-1pm.)

As I mentioned in my e-mail to everyone, we'll be trying out something new at this event: door prizes! To show our appreciation to those who have helped us cover our organization's operating costs by becoming members, we'll be giving out merchandise and coupons from our generous donors to a few lucky, randomly-selected winners.

If you haven't submitted your membership dues yet and would like to put your name in for door prizes, you can submit your dues online here: http://www.vegnebraska.org/join/

Awesome! Small change of plans, though - since we'd like to have the plastic eggs filled and hidden before the event begins, Drea and I decided it'd be easier to buy the treats and shells ahead of time and encourage attendees to donate one or two dollars to cover the cost.

However, you can definitely still bring nut-free, vegan treats to pass out to the kids! Everything on the webpage you linked to looks delicious (especially the Dandies, which I've been meaning to try) and I bet the kids will think so too. :)

I plan to bring a vegan dish that's kosher for Passover, in case anyone observing wants to know. :)
