  • The number of NFC capable handsets in consumer hands continue to grow as most new Android models released this year in the US have NFC support. Although news around NFC devices mostly involves mobile payment, NFC creates huge opportunities for other exciting and engaging applications. Learn what NFC is all about and how to create an NFC Android application in this 4-hour workshop.
  • We will be diving into code and creating a basic application to read and write tags as well as to communicate with other NFC capable devices. Familiarity with programming on the Android platform is highly recommended.
  • The NFC workshop will cover the basics of developing NFC capable applications on the Android platform. We will walk through some code samples on reading and writing NFC tags as well as communicating with other NFC devices. After the code walkthrough, we’ll have a hands-on exercise where you will be coding up a simple application utilizing what you’ve learned. You MUST bring your own laptop to participate in the hands-on lab – please have the Android development environment already setup. NFC capable phones will be provided for testing. Familiarity with developing on the Android platform is highly recommended.
