Northeast Florida Vegetarian Society Monthly Meetup

Farah's Pita Stop Cafe is preparing another sumptuous Mediterranean vegan buffet just for us featuring: veggie kibbeh, grapeleaves, spinach pie, falafel, hummus, tabouleh...and more! Ida and Murad make everything onsite -- fresh and delicious. The buffet is $16.00 inclusive with drink, and ordering off the menu is also an option with varying price ranges.

And they're closing down just for our event, so please manage your RSVP.

Thanks and see you there!

I've had the same thought as well. I do love seeing old friends at the meet up, but it's also great to meet new or talk to people you've seen a million times, but never gotten to know. I'd be up for a "shake up". Maybe changing the way the tables/seating is arranged to make it more communal or random seating even...to force the issue a bit. But we don't want to make people uncomfortable who don't like being thrown in with "strangers". Maybe we could have alternating formats. There may be a need for a vote :-).

The food was very good and Deborah was her usual gracious self. But I withdraw one star because of the difficulty we find in meeting other members of the group. People seem to only want to talk to their friends and there is little opportunity to meet new people. Any ideas on ways to change the ambiance - assuming anyone wants to? Perhaps people don't get to see their friends as often as they would like and need this opportunity to do so. What do others think about this?

I've had the same thought. We actually sat with folks we didn't know well, including one we'd never met before. We enjoyed getting to know them, and the evening flew by.

I would encourage all of our "elder statesvegans" to try to reach out more and welcome everyone. At our old location, we usually sat at one big table, which helped. But now we are too numerous, which is a good thing!

Great to welcome so many new to our group! The rain and switch to Wednesday probably kept some away, but thanks for managing your RSVPs. Looking forward to seeing you all next time!

Not permanently. Over time, we've shifted days or weeks for various reasons like scheduling conflicts. And some people have Thursday night commitments and can never attend.
