Vegan Trivia! Northeast Florida Vegetarian Society Monthly Meetup

Being VEGAN is no trivial matter, but for the fun of it, tonight it will be!

Join us for a yummy, fun-filled evening where VEGAN TRIVIA will be the main event if not the main dish! "Veggie-table" teams will compete for knowledge and prizes. So sit with no more than six to a table, and that will be your trivia team. The winning team will get sur-PRIZES! Be prepared to be possibly stumped and definitely entertained!

All this while enjoying Masala's all-vegan Indian cuisine buffet, featuring appetizers, salad, entres', rice, etc. Their dishes are prepared mild yet flavorful, and everything's always delicious! The $15 fare includes dessert and drink. For preparation and as a courtesy to our hosts, please manage your RSVPs.

See you all there!!

I (along with many others) enjoyed the great meal at Masala's; particularly the garbanzo dish with ginger! I even was able to take some home for today! The trivia questions were an interesting learning experience. Question #1 had the wrong answer, I fear...But; there is one thing to consider...vitamin B12 is produced strictly by animals; however, fermented foods like Miso (soybeans); Tamari (soybeans); Ume boshi plums or paste (Fermented Ume boshi plums), you will get some B12! Another thing to consider is sea-weeds, they live in an environment rich in everything nutritious(micro-organisms that produce B12, as well).
Interesting to note: after Hiroshima/Nagasaki, the Japanese that survived the original blast, did not suffer as much or many dire effects from radiation, as was expected/predicted. (Japanese, traditionally eat much seafood including seaweeds; plus miso & tamari...which counteract the negative effects of all kinds of radiation (including TV sets). Bon Apetite!

Also, our local farmed animal sanctuary will be hosting "Thanksliving" on November 10, a ticketed, catered event that will include a gourmet vegan meal as well as the chance to serve dinner to the turkeys at the farm. I believe details are expected this week, with tickets going on sale soon. http://www.cjacres.or...
