Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

The fun continues!!!

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permantant" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

It was an accident. After numerous emails and a phone call we got it straightened out. Sorry about that folks. Lol I take a small amount of comfort in knowing I wasn't the first to do it or even the third. Have nice weekend everyone.

So we started a little slow...some of those songs were a little off the beaten path anyway, right? Got rockin' once everyone was settled in, though! Some fab solos from alla you guys (harps, too!) Joe B, we missed you for "Pancho and Lefty" so Ed and Beth coached us through it at dinner time. Now we can back you up better!

I guess I missed most of the train wrecks, because it was nothing but fun for the short time I was there. After being stuck in traffic for an hour, "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" was just the catharsis I needed! Thanks. Bob! "I Know Yo Rider" was another highlight. I don't know what it is about that song that brings out the best in guitarists, but in the past Joe B and Paul G have blown that one up. Last night, it was Brian's turn to smoke it. The only real difficulty was dealing with the files Dusty deleted out of Dropbox, which left a bunch of folks without music for some of the songs.

Despite a few train wrecks a fun night nevertheless. The highlight for me was 'The Last Time' started by Beth at the correct tempo with some tasty lick by Brian.

I so enjoy playing the guitar. The music is magic. And, every time i go to both Rolf's and Mannion's, it's heaven on earth. The feeling i get being around everyone playing, singing and learning about the guitar is incredible........ See you all thursday.

I've been itching to do "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues"! And "A Summer Song", and could we plug Mr. Brice in for some "Pancho and Lefty"?
