NJAMP - South - Acoustic Music Meetup

Join us for an acoustic jam at Maloney’s Pub in Matawan, NJAMP-South. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. This is a new location, and for now, we will be meeting every other Wednesday. We will be meeting in the room behind the bar. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Maloney’s serves delicious food and has about 100 beers on tap; it is NJ’s best craft-beer bar. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until 11 or so. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

Good group of players and singers last night. Many lively versions of old standards and surprisingly good renditions of new tunes. Da Joe Guzzo originals were a big hit and how can ya beat da singin' waitress Beatle block? Harmonies, laughter, romantic tears of joy, great food and beer.....I'm really diggin' da room folks.

First time at NJAMP South... Great night of jamming. Nice room and even the waitress joins in. Good job Bob M!

What a pleasant surprise, as a first-timer, to find that fun can sound this good. The singing-waitress Beatles block would've made my hair stand on end (if I had any). I'm amazed at how an informal gathering can be so well-organized and work this well. Bravo to all.

Good time all around. Everyone contributed to a solid night of music: the leads, the bass, the harmony, the diversity of songs, and the list goes on... Bob especially rocked O' Mary with that harp run. Also good to see so many Mannion Ampers. John, sorry I forgot about, Old Number 7... We'll catch it next time.

Even though we have the choices of venues that are a lot closer, Carol and I want to head down for the Wednesday night fun at Maloney's. I have a bunch of new songs in the Dropbox, and would love to play a few of them as well as some covers. Can we do "Life at 64", "Reborn", and "A Daughter's Song" from my music, and "Helplessly Hoping", "Dirty Old Town" and "Streets of London" from the list of covers. If we can't get to them all, that is fine. Just figured I would toss them out for everyone to consider. Ciao!

Hello to all! Newbie here with a newbie question. I took a look at the NJAMP South setlist and downloaded the files in the semi-permanent section. Couple songs there I don't know, but hey, that's part of the fun. Then I noticed that the setlist is dated April 2013. Have there been additions and deletions to this? I'd like be as familiar as I can with the songs you usually play. Thanks, and looking forward to meeting you!

Hey Rich, the set list is evolving. Sometime before the meetup, members posts requests. The setlist you see is from last meetup. I will explain more when we meet. Welcome to NJAMP. All the meet ups are friendly and open...
