NJAMP - South - Acoustic Music Meetup

Join us for an acoustic jam at Maloney’s Pub in Matawan, NJAMP-South. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. This is a new location, and for now, we will be meeting every other Wednesday. We will be meeting in the room behind the bar. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Maloney’s serves delicious food and has about 100 beers on tap; it is NJ’s best craft-beer bar. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until 11 or so. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

What makes a nice room is the players
filling the space with wonderful music.
Thanks to all for a great time.

Totally agree with Rich; never liked capos; I vote yes on the nice room ballot. I thought it was definitely a special evening.

Maybe this is just my enthusiasm at discovering a great new singer/songwriter talking... but I wonder if the group would consider adding Willie Niles's "One Guitar" to the semi-permanent playlist? That tune really seemed to strike a chord among us... definitely kicked the energy level up a notch! And yeah, I agree with Nick... "Hallelujah" is another one that we really seem to play with feeling.

Totally worth da trip to play wit this great group. For da most part we didn't even need no steenkin' capos ! Our last tune of the night "Hallelujah" even left a patron in tears. 'Nuff said. Oh, but I do need to mention that it IS a very nice room.

Let's have another go at Octopus's Garden. Let's also throw in Harvest Moon and Back in da USSR.
