Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

The fun continues!!!

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permantant" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

I first heard "Little Red Riding Hood" via the Bobs - awesome San Francisco based a cappella quartet. Somewhere I have a cassette of that album....

With howls. Bit different vibe from Mannion's, but worth a listen.

Welcome Jon - You have one more groupie than I do. Maybe we can do White Freightliner. It is a bluesy song.

I started by just singing along and bringing a tambourine while my husband played guitar. After a while I got the nerve to start playing guitar too. I had not played in 30 years, and even then I was just a beginner. I have some shakers your wife can use if she wants. Just let me know.

Soo, along with the seasonal concept (Awoooo!) could we do "Dark Hollow", and "Ol' Tennessee" (the country waltz version) and "Black Magic Woman"? (note; the version of BMW in our files may not be exactly the same as some of the recorded versions, so take a minute to check out the arrangement instructions; it works fine, we just all need to play the same song, right?) TNX!

I found it--Little Red Riding Hood! Only, I think it was Mark who would request it. There's no howl in the lyrics. We just happened to howl a lot during that song. Let's add this to the list.

Little Red Riding Hood was on of the first songs I learned how to play. Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs rock. What's next Wooly Bully?
