Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

The fun continues!!!

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permantant" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

Great pics, again, Mike S! Wait, did we miss Santa?! When did that happen?!

Oh, I wondered who that was ho-ho-hoing! Nice deep bass voice. Will he back next week, ya think?

Great night! Fun to have my friend Miriam join us. She loved that we sang her Happy Birthday.

*I* loved that we did "Rock the Boat", however imperfectly, and that the group seemed to enjoy a little stylistic departure like that. Unless I hear objections, I'll request it again, so be sure to download it so you have the chords (and words) ... There's a few odd ones in there.

Thanks for the very helpful responses to my quest for a luthier. I will start looking this weekend or next week. Happy Christmas to all.

You got so many great local responses that this one will probably be less helpful, but I offer it in case it's useful to you. Bob McNally, inventor of the Strumstick and the Martin Backpacker guitar, is a friend of mine, and obviously a professional luthier. He's been very helpful to me with instrument issues. He's more northerly than the others suggested (Morris County?), but I can put you in touch if you're interested.

Not 100% sure I'll make it-- getting over a virus. Also, my Guild has suffered a serious injury-- can anyone recommend a local luthier?

Ouch! I've heard very good things (and seen some of their work) about the Guitar Parlor, just across the river and about 5 miles south of I-78. They build custom guitars as well as repairs, and have participated in NJ Folk Project events as well as a supporter of all volunteer run WDVR-FM radio. See: http://www.guitarparl...

I've used these people a few times and have been very satisfied with their work. Quite a few NJAMP members have also used them with similar results. Hope it's not too major an injury. http://www.repairguit...

I'm still under the weather, so I'm not going to make it tonight. Have a Happy Christmas everyone, and I'll see you all on the 26th!
