Acoustic Music Meetup @Hidden River Farm

  • Jan 30, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Mannion's is not available this evening due to Super Bowl Festivities so Bob C graciously offered to host our meetup at Hidden River Farm.  This meetup is limited to 25 folks so please only sign up if you intend to come.

This event is BYOB and Bob C will be supplying dinner.  Please plan to give Bob at least $7 if you are attending to compensate Bob for costs.  Music making will be in the arena viewing room in the back of the farm on your left.

The fun continues!!!

Join us for another acoustic jam at HRF. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting in the indoor arena. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

We intend to  take a dinner break around 7:30. Please bring at least $7.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

Well, that was certainly a most excellent night! If it hadn't taken longer to get there, and been so much extra work for our gracious host and his able assistant ... and, you know, the wait-list thing and not everyone who wanted to being able to attend ... I'd suggest meeting there every week! What a great space, WAY too much lovely and lovingly homemade food, nice acoustics, comfy couches, horses, cute pups with wiggly ears, special guests, Pete Seeger tribute songs, Bob in his element, and the usual great music and fellowship made even sweeter by the special circumstances and party atmosphere.

Way to host a Super Bowl preview party, Bob! Looking forward to the next one.

Many thanks Bobster! Great night, as always with you folks. Thanks everyone for being so welcoming to Rich. He really enjoyed it. I finally got to hear/see Carolyn on djembe--that's a cool hen!

What can I say but Hidden River Farm is magical. The questions is: Can it get any better than this? You would think there is no way it could, but then it always amazes me that it does. Bob you are great, and thank you so much for hosting.

It's amazing when you get all of us in one room, give it a little stir, and then (to quote the Beatles) "Whoa, lookout!" Thanks for coming!

It is always good to come back from NJAMP South and catch up. Bob the ever gracious and generous host, and a super jam. As I looked around I said, it just does not get any better. Rock on...

If was one of those nights for which five stars seems woefully inadequate. A fantastic evening made even better by the excellent feast prepared by Bob and his helper Cecilia. Such great fun and camaraderie, oh and some mighty fine music, too!

I'm so sorry...I can't make it tonite. I hope someone can take my place. Sorry about the late notice. Been a brutal week at work, falling asleep at my desk, and not feeling well. Have my guitar with me and everything, but I just can't do it. See you next week.

Can you send me the link to the drop box? I don't have it. Thanks

Some more songs associated with Pete Seeger: "Goodnight Irene", "If I Had a Hammer" (just uploaded to Dropbox), and "O Mary Don't You Weep".

  • Ken B.

Given the venue, perhaps we should include "Horse With No Name" on the set list.

    4 · January 25, 2014

    • Wendy

Oh, we need to do "Horses".

Hey Gang! I'd really appreciate it if some of us could come up with some songs either written or performed by our beloved Pete Seeger, who just passed at the age of 94! Can I kick it off (take THAT, Super Bowl!) with "Where Have All The Flowers Gone", which I just added to the dropbox and the Files? Breathe easy, you rockers' this, too shall pass!

I just uploaded "Sailin' Up, Sailin' Down" - his theme song for the Clearwater organization he founded that cleaned up the Hudson River. Great fun happy 12-bar blues song.

And, since it is blues week in the Seasons of the Ukulele, I video'd my version of the song, in case you'd like to hear it before we play it ... there's a call-and-response bit that's fun to do, and you can hear (or refresh) how it goes.
