NJAMP - South - Acoustic Music Meetup

Join us for an acoustic jam at Maloney’s Pub in Matawan, NJAMP-South. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. We jam every other Wednesday. We will be meeting in the room behind the bar. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Maloney’s serves delicious food and has about 100 beers on tap; it is NJ’s best craft-beer bar. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until 11 or so. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

The best thing about our great group is the ability to play a variety of songs . The group grows because of our diverse backgrounds and abilities . We may need a bigger room as everyone shows up and the word about us keeps growing . I count myself lucky to be part of this dynamic group !

So we attempt a bunch of Irish traditional tunes that nobody's played before, and... it actually works? Who does that?? Truly an adventure. Hats off to the flutes... chills ran down my back during the solo in Nights in White Satin. What a great night.

Yup, lots of first attempts at new tunes... and no freekin' train wrecks. Flute section sounded real good again. Always a pleasure to sing with Bob M., who did a great job running the night solo tonight. Definitely worth the long drive to play with a great group of folks.

I'll throw a couple of Irish traditional tunes into the mix: Ramblin' Rover, and Star of the County Down. If they flop, at least they'll flop Irish. :-) Also, maybe we can give Gordon Lightfoot's Sundown a try.
