NJAMP - South - Acoustic Music Meetup

Join us for an acoustic jam at Maloney’s Pub in Matawan, NJAMP-South. This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night. We jam every other Wednesday. We will be meeting in the room behind the bar. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Maloney’s serves delicious food and has about 100 beers on tap; it is NJ’s best craft-beer bar. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until 11 or so. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup--see the link in the left-hand column of our site. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi- permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section (see the link in the left-hand column of the site), then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

After that great performance last night and having multiple conversations with the group I believe we should add Bobs song Meetin In The Music to our permanent set list . It certainly wouldn't be a bad way to either start us out or finish the night . Bobs song pretty much tells the story of everyone of us in the group . For some it is a new adventure if we never played before . For others ... Well life gets in the way of our musical dreams . When I look around the room I see players " rockin out" enjoying it all ! No matter what level , background we all look forward to meeting in the music every other Wednesday . When bar patrons applaud and take the time to tell us that they are enjoying our music we know we are playing from the heart !

It was a nice night. We test drove some new stuff, pushed our boundaries on others, and we are adding the NJAMP fade;). It was nice to welcome, Alan, a founding member of the fine tradition, style, and spirit of the AMP-Jam that we all enjoy. And, let's not forget our bar groupie who said, "this is the best time I have ever had at Maloney's." Rock on...

I'm going to suggest that we dig deeper into our song list (as much as I enjoy O Mary). My (more than two song) list of suggestions:
    Against the Wind
    All I've got to Do
    Baby's in Black
    Don't Let me Be Misunderstood
    Friend of the Devil
If You Could Read my Mind
Jump in the Line (people know it?)
    Learning to Fly
(and we should more often do:)
    Midnight Special
