Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's! This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over fourteen hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section or added to our shared Dropbox folder, then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

Great night even though I had to leave at dinner time. My injury still needs time to tolerate loud sound and last night I sat next to Mike and his drum which sounds great but my headed started to throb after a while. But the new songs were stimulating and fun. My goal is to be able, someday, to make it to the end of the night. Thanks for the pentatonic scales Brian!

Sounds like I missed a great night but at the rare guitar auction I spent almost five hours playing some of the finest guitars in the world. My daughter and I had a blast and a wonderful meal afterword. Life just doesn't get any better than that! I'll be in Florida next week visiting my parents so, I'll see y'all in two weeks. All the best. Jam on...Mitch.

Gee I didn't know we had an "official" greeter. It was a great evening, and I'm glad that I was able to get away from my office for some music fun. Hope to see you all next week. And Bob and Brian, see you both Tuesday

I could put a list of songs here but since I will be there late (if at all) I will leave it to others to suggest. I guess I will have to wait to post my Herman's Hermits set. :)

Manuel, great to meet you, and please do come back whenever you can! Late is never a problem, (so long as we're still there :-) ). Be sure to get yourself on the Dropbox and get the UnrealBook app, so you have access to all the songs. Welcome.

Wendy Ive been welcome already before. LoL I joined the group last year in the park with a friend that recommended the group, I just haven't had the time to be there and I'm about 10 minutes from the bar. o.O I really don't have time to be there on the first pitch but from now on I'll be there in the late hours.

I was there for an hour tonight. The best fun per minute deal I have had in a long time.

oh yeah? Well I was the last guy to show up , some songs I heard that night for the first time in my tender life and I decided to add those to my permanent repertoire. o.O This group ROCKS!!!

Wow, that was quite the barn-burner of a first set! Lots of new songs, many of which worked better than expected. And maybe out most instrumentally diverse night yet, with fiddles, mandolins, strumstick, hammered dulcimer, bowed psaltery, bongos, 12-string banjitar, banjo-uke, regular ukes, guitars, bass, harmonicas, kazoo, and assorted hand percussion. What a night!

      Oh, forgot about the djembe!

Yup, that was ANOTHER good one! What's better than spending a whole night singing/playing/listening with some of the best people you know? It was fun to do some new stuff, huh? And I HAVE to say (now don't get all sensitive on me, you guys) those last minutes at the very end are sometimes just amazing! Y'know, every now and then try to juggle your sched so you can stay a little late; you won't be sorry!

    • Michael S.

Sheesh. You make *ONE* stray observation, and you're forever branded a malcontent. Just for the record, I have no doubt those smaller sessions are amazing. And yes, schedule juggling would be nice. One of these days. :-)

Thanks Mike! I agree, absolutely great energy last night all around! Just a great feeling to be there last night after being away a couple weeks. A "Good Feeling to Know" as Poco put it many years ago! NJAMP, long may we run......

WOW! We just hit the ground running yesterday, and didn't stop. Some days we're just ON and this was one of them. Great time. A lot of fun singing everything from Simple minds to 'One toke over the line'...

A shout out to Mary for leading us in the Bob Dylan song. Fantastic job! Another shout out to Brian for being a terrific go to guy for the leads. He always knocks it out of the park. And finally, Bob Bole - very very nice job with 'Grandpa'...

    • Michael S.

      *Ahem*...that would be Bob *Cole*....

      Sorry about that Bob...

      2 · April 4

  • Wendy

Well, yeah ... that was just awesome. "Wagon Wheel" was rockin' at a whole new level! And I loved some of the adventurous new stuff - "One Toke Over the Line", "Should I Stay or Should I Go", "Don't You Forget About Me" ... those are my requests for next week! And all of Mary's songs. And more I'm forgetting, probably. All excellent. What a great night.

Also "Heartache Tonight" and "Tracks of My Tears". Oh no - that's 5 requests. Someone else please request some of those so we can do them all again!

      April 4

  • Ed L.

How about "Ripple", "I Shall be Released", and Van Morrison's "Crazy Love".

    April 3

  • bob c.

Bob's in an adventurous mood; can we try."Don't You Forget About Me", and "Grandpa, Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days", and "Heartache Tonight"?

    April 1

  • Dan S.

Alrighty...it was time to post some new material. (We'll keep our fingers crossed as we play them). (That would make them hard to play, wouldn't it)? (Oh well, you know what I mean)..."Should I Stay or Should I Go?", "Hey, Hey, My, My (Out of the Blue)", and "One Toke Over the Line". (I would not know ANYthing about that sort of thing, I just think it's a cool song) LOL

We were also talking about "Should I Stay or Should I Go" on Saturday! I'll let him tell you why ... it's his story.

("Hey, Hey, My, My" did not come up this weekend. But two out of three is pretty impressive!)
