Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's! This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over fourteen hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section or added to our shared Dropbox folder, then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

Manion Friends. I'm collecting tips for a workshop, and would like to hear from AMP musicians: Do you have any advice for beginning musicians on how to practice so they can learn their instrument faster and better?
    Thanks, Mark

Like others have said, play as often as you can. Play as often as you can with others who are slightly better than you.

I can just tell you from experience, that it is practice. When I started playing guitar, I taught myself, and I played every day when I came home from school for about three hours each day. I was determined to learn. So never give up and spend a couple of hours each day on your instrument.

Good times, as usual! A bit lighter turnout got some great solos from Ed, Mike Seidel, Ted and Mitch, and Alan provided great bass foundation for all. The cats, thankfully, behaved, and Mark's violin was a welcome highlight!

Hey Kids! I didn't post any setlist req's 'cause I've been sick-ish so I'm not sure I'm gonna get there, but if you wind up with a smallish group and a light setlist, it works pretty well to do "round robin"to keep things moving...

Hope you are feeling better, Bob. We miss you! I would like to request Home, I and Love and You, and Hallalujah (we haven't done that in a while).
