Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

Join us for another acoustic jam at Mannion's! This is an inclusive jam, not an open mic. Members are encouraged to sing and play along the entire night.

We will be meeting on the ground floor in the side room. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. Most of us take a dinner break around 7:30. After dinner, we play until they kick us out--usually around 11. Please bring cash to pay for your dinner and drinks.

There is an evolving setlist for this meetup. We usually get through all of the requests, most of our "semi-permanent" songs, plus about 20 more songs out of the over fourteen hundred or so songs in our files.

If you would like to add a song to the setlist, make sure it is posted to our site in the "Files" section or added to our shared Dropbox folder, then post your request in the "get the conversation started" section below.

I had a good time, despite the 1:10 drive each way! Your group creates a nice ambiance and seems to have a great time. I've just never seen that many people with iPads in one place ;-)

Now I have to work on "You Can Close Your Eyes" again... I have the intro down, but...

Saw David Bromberg last night -- he can still pick and grin ;-)

Last night was fantastic, hope to see you all soon! Playing with such a talented group is helping me to learn to improve my playing and timing.
    Ciao

Yay, that was fun. Again! So great to have so many ukes in the house, and a joy to play with the new folks, Gina, Shane, and Martin. "White Room" sounded great ... the whole room seemed to be catching on to that chord progression. Let's do that again! And Bob M South (we have a Bob M too) bringing those great southern staples. Loved that new Willie Nile song.

And "Letter Go" is such a great song. (And fits Mark's unplanned theme. :-) )
Oh, no ... I think I have to write another parody now....
Sorry. It just happens. Forgive me.

Great time last night! Lots of strong singing. Great group of people. Thank you to everyone who gave me information about setting up my new I-pad, especially Ken. I can't wait to start bringing it to Mannions. I had to leave early due to my concussion headache , but it is really a blessing for me to be part of NJAMP. I am learning so much and I look forward to getting to know some of you better.

Oh, you're gonna love the iPad ... makes everything so much easier ... and portable! Not only does it make for a better time at Mannion's ... but it gives you 2000 songs you can play (or play along to) at non-NJAMP music parties too. And it weighs so much less than a binder full of paper. :-)

Here are my three for this week: "The Letter", "Horse With No Name", and "With Or Without You". Can anyone find the theme in these songs? (there isn't one).

    1 · June 17, 2014

    • Wendy

Because we figured out your theme when you thought you didn't have one? :-)

Anyway, those were all fun songs! I really have to go find the right uke chords for "Horse With No Name" before that comes up again....
And practice "White Room"! Love that song ... let's do that again.

Thank you all for the support and encouragement. My teenage dream of being a lead guitar player has now come true. :)

Sounds like a real good time. Sorry I missed the Mark debut. Ted & I were just nagging him last week that he's more than ready for the 'big stage'. Looking forward to an encore next week!

What a joy to have Bob M join us! And several new members, too! And Mark Senecal's first solo! A slow start with some rocky little-played songs, but a big finish.

A great vibe and good music. It was worth the trip to hear Mark's solo on Wagon Wheel and to catch up. Rock on NJAMP.

Will be joining tonight for the first time. I'd like to add "Midnight Special" (Bb - capo 3rd fret, G chording) and "Angel from Montgomery" (open G) to the set list. I hope to figure out how to post the lyrics by tonight!

    1 · June 19, 2014

    • FiL

Welcome, Martin! We have both of those songs in our files.

      June 19, 2014

    • Martin

Thanks! I looked up the songs. I play "Angel from Montgomery" as it is in your file, in G. With "Midnight Special," I play the Credence version rather than the Lead Belly version--but with G chording and a capo on the 3rd fret. I hope that's all I need to do? See you later.
