Acoustic Music Meetup @Mannion's

The fun continues!!!

Come play some great acoustic music at Mannion's. Share songs and learn some new ones. Members are strongly encouraged to post song suggestions and upload chord sheets in the message board or file area. It's a good idea to have all the songs in our files section printed out, or at least the ones in the setlist.

There is an evolving set list under the sponsor area on the main page of the site. We usually get through the entire setlist plus about 20 more songs out of the over five hundred or so songs in our files area. If you want to play other songs please post them or bring multiple (at least 10) copies of songs you want the group to perform.

We will be meeting on the ground floor. Look for the folks with the musical instruments.

Mannion's serves delicious food and has a nice selection of beers. We'll probably take a dinner break around 7:30pm

Once again, lotsa musical fun! A little different atmosphere than usual, but the music came out great! Really enjoyed our little "Nobody Knows You" Bad Boy (and Girl) interlude at dinner time! (It was Frank's fault; the rest of us just picked up the ball!).

I really enjoyed meeting the diverse group of people and sharing our interests. The music sounded better than I ever imagined. I think having so many people ends up like a choral group; which is good.

Other than having a problem with getting on line I had a good experience.

Even when several regulars are absent, and some songs sound a little more ragged than usual, there's still no place I'd rather be on a Thursday night! Enjoyed all the new and new-ish folks. Mindi had some great harmonica solos, and the keyboard, accordion, and hammered dulcimer (!!) sounded great. Several folks had trouble connecting to Mannion's wi-fi. If you have an iPad, I recommend getting the unrealbook app, so you can download all the songs directly onto the iPad. That way, you don't wi-fi to access our songs. Thank you all for making this weekly gathering so much fun!

Had a really good time at this meetup with my hammered dulcimer. All the folks are terrific and welcoming, thanks for that. I felt like I added some value, which is warming. With 25 players playing one can play at any level one wants. Good space too. Nice.

Sorry for being late with this, but I had a power failure with the storm, and am just getting back online. I would like to try my new song, "Sad Girl" and also the Herman's Hermits hit, "Mrs Brown (You've Got A Lovely Daughter)"

My thanks to Ice for the great photos @;-) I got the feeling I missed a great happening from the captured moments. My request is for Kodachrome because you are a colorful bunch.

If only I could shoot 'em like you Robert, but I'll take the complement. Thx! Don't stay away too long. With you and Angelo gone, we're missing some hues from the palette. :(

Hi I'm a new member also, I wanted to ask is it necessary to bring a keyboard to the location? I'm a pianist and I have a P-155 Yamaha I can bring

    August 8, 2012

    • FiL

Kevin, there is no keyboard or piano there. We have had a keyboard occasionally in the past. It is fine as long as we don't have a full house. Once we get over 25 people, space gets tight at Mannion's the keyboard takes up too much room. At the Wednesday night Rolf's meetups, that's generally not an issue.

Hi, I'm not familiar with these songs, but that's okay right? I've played the guitar for a while, but still like to practice/learn skills, like new strum patterns, percussive strumming and such. =)

    August 8, 2012

    • FiL

Celicia, yes that's OK. Come a few times, and some of the songs will become very familiar to you.
