Hello All,

Just a few things...

Looks like the weather will be in our favor tonight! Mostly clear with maybe a few patchy clouds.

- The temperatures will be in the 20's so please dress WARM! Bundle up in layers, including your legs. I wear thermals which really help. Hat, scarf, gloves!

Donations - If we all pitch in a few extra dollars towards donations for the Observatory, I can pick up some Hot Chocolate, coffee and other refreshments from Dunkin Donuts to help keep us warm! ;-) (Suggested donation $5.00/person)

Directions - Please don't forget to read the directions in the event when you get to the end of Ross Drive

Thank you & look forward to seeing you tonight! :)
Melanie

Hello Everyone,

Anyone interested in observing the stars, star clusters, nebula's, planets and more with a personal guided tour of our night sky through telescopes?

The Plan:
**Please keep in mind that this is a weather sensitive event. In the event of rain or clouds covering the sky, the event could be canceled. You really can't predict the weather until the day of (please see rain dates below).  As a result, it makes this event difficult to plan in advance. Please check the weather for the Boonton, NJ area the day of the event. If canceled, I will try to give you as much notice as possible without canceling too early and risk missing a clear night. I would suggest making back-up plans "just in-case".

Rain Date: Sat. Nov. 30th at 7:30pm

*This event will be "Outdoors" the temperature is always cooler on top of the hill.  Please dress appropriately for the weather!

*Keep in mind, there are NO RESTROOM facilities on the premises.

We may be spending 1-2 hours there but at your leisure.
You may need a flash light to help you see in the parking area but please be sure NOT to point it up in the direction of the dome or telescopes...Thank you!

About Sheep Hill Observatory:

*Sheep Hill Astronomical Association (SHAA) is a non-profit Association. There is no fee for this event however, your support for any donation (whatever you feel comfortable giving) is appreciated.
Please don't forget to sign their visitors book...Thank you :-)
For more info go to: http://sheephillastro.org

Directions:
Latitude 40.92° North
Longitude 74.41° West

For Directions and more info. please visit their web-site: http://sheephillastro...
**Note:** Once you reach the end of Ross Dr., you will hit an empty dirt parking lot. Continue straight & follow to the right up a small hill until you're in the second lot. (Please go slow). The dome will be on your left. If the lot is full, you can park in the first lot. Please keep the spaces tight to leave room for others. It's very dark up there and aren't any lights. You may need a flashlight.  Please, DO NOT point them up or in the direction of the telescopes or toward the dome...Thank you!

Following: We can stop at the local Dukin Donuts or the famous Mara's Cafe in Denville (15min. drive). Address: http://marascafe.com/ - 25 E. Main Street Denville, NJ 07834 Or, a local Diner.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Look forward to seeing you!

BTW, Google Maps doesn't seem to be able to figure out "End of Ross Drive," but it works if you put it in as Sheep Hill Astronomical Association or 300 Ross Dr, Boonton, NJ 07005

I'm tempted to say yes, but the 20 degree weather really does not sound too comforting. I might just stay home.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
