Java 101. Online session for Flash/Flex devs.

  • Aug 9, 2012 · 7:00 PM

I'm planning to spend about two hours giving you a bare minimum of the information to be able to understand what's happening on the server side when your Flex application makes a remote call to Java. I'll start with a quick HelloWorld in Eclipse, then add Apache Tomcat server to the mix followed by a quick intro to Java Servlets. Then a Flex app will hit this servlet, which will respond with some data.

Adding a bit of BlazeDS to Tomcat won't hurt if time permits.

This is an online event and the URL will be sent to those who'll RSVP. The session will start at 7PM New York time.

Had to bail out about 20 minutes before the end, but it was very useful. Yakov knows how to cut through to the key concepts and delivers succinctly.
