Safari :: Africa! Dangerously close-by

Together with The Brabant Adventurers ;-)

Thought you've to go all the way to Africa for a safari? Nope, at Beekse Bergen, Africa is dangerously close-by! Check out all the details on their site:

Practical info:

Safaripark Beekse Bergen

Beekse Bergen 1

5081 NJ Hilvarenbeek

Public transport from Amsterdam:

(Car pooling is recommended)

Opening times: 10.00 - 17.00

Entry prize: EUR 21.50 per person

Order your tickets online here:  (Discount of EUR 1.50 if ordered online)

With one ticket, you can do all the 4 following safaris:

1) Bus safari:

Two different bus routes, each of 45 min duration.

2) Boat safari:

A 30 min guided boat trip.

3) Car safari: (with your own car)

Takes approx an hour, depending on "traffic" on the road.

4) Safari on foot:

A walking track of 3.5 KM

Bringing your own car for the car safari is at your own risk! Rumour is that none of the inhabitants of the safari park have the Dutch driving license and are prone to occasional antics :)

And don't forget to read the FAQ:

Update (4-Oct):
* If you've already bought the ticket, don't forget to get the printout.

* Meeting point: the main entrance:  See above for address.

* For those who are driving: planned maintenance works on A65 between Den Bosch & Hilvarenbeek. Check out:

* All the 4 safari routes are between the two junctions: the main entrance and the Kongo restaurant on the opposite side of the park. Assuming you have no particular preference, I suggest the following:

1. Bus safari from entrance to Kongo

2. Boat safari from Kongo to entrance

3. Car safari (if you drive there) from entrance to Kongo & back

4. Safari by foot

* The essentials: camera, something to eat/drink, rain gear, etc

* My nr: [masked]

The Safari was quiet nice and variously with car, by feet and boat. We had a great day together and don't forget the weather: warm and autumn sun ;-)

I'm staying in Oss temporarily, I'm not sure of how to get there, go to Tilburg first and then get the bus to the safari park? Any Suggestions?

And for the 'offer-spotters'. Here is a nice offer. No big commitment (like the group booking from the website).
    'A Duo-ticket for 23.50 EUR'

Do we aim for group booking- its 17 Eur pp then!Looking at RSVPs we have required no. of course everyone needs to pay in advance...

    1 · September 21, 2013

    • Venkat

If anyone would like to coordinate the group-booking, feel free to do so. Personally, for me, it's a hassle, based on past experience. Drop-outs, last min cancellations, no-responses, .... :(

  • Ana M

So are you proposing to do all the safaris or a couple. I would be most interested in the foot safari & boat safari :)

    September 14, 2013

    • Venkat

Depends on each one's interest :) I'm planning to do Car, boat & foot. Looks like bus & car are similar, so I'll skip the bus.
