I've organised a few climbing events so far (as most of you know) but never a bouldering event.
Bouldering is one of the fastest growing sub-sports of climbing and is brilliant fun for people of all abilities.
This year Monk Amsterdam opened it's doors, it is a purpose build bouldering hall in a great location. For those unsure what bouldering is - read this.
The best part of bouldering is that it is super social and pure fun.
If you have never been to Amsterdam North then you do not know Amsterdam. Across the water from central station a 5min ferry ride (free) takes you to a completely different world. I recommend coming just so you can see another side of Amsterdam.
For details check here. It helps if you have a bike. If you have any doubts just get in touch and ask me, we can all meet at central station if need be.
Just turn up and after a brief introduction/instruction we are free to boulder to our hearts content. I set the end time at 2pm but the gym is open till 10pm :)
Entrance is only 10 euro
After we can enjoy a relaxing beer and chat in the bar.
What to wear?
Just like rock climbing you can climb in pretty much anything BUT I would recommend wearing clothes which allow freedom of movement, shorts, sports trousers kind of thing and a T-shirt as it can get quite warm.
Proper climbing shoes can be rented there for 3 euro.
I'm part of a climbing community, we're a friendly bunch check us out: http://amsterdamclimbers.com
Hope to see you here...
