Pursuit of Pancakes: A Culinary Bike Tour

After Pursuit of Noodles comes another scenic bike tour and this time, it is in pursuit of Pancakes!

For those foodie adventurers who are not familiar, this journey is about two things
1) Scenic bike ride
2) A special culinary experience that awaits us at the end of the journey

Haarlem-Zandvoort is one of the best scenic routes the country has to offer and so is the case with this special eatery. Yes, Oudt Leyden is a very unique pancake restaurant. Not only do they serve awesome pancakes but also they serve it in a unique way. You just cannot have a better lunch!

This will be an easy and talkative bike ride of two-three hours (any bikes will do).

Starts from Haarlem station at 11:00 (gather at 10:45)
We can have our piping hot pancakes at around 13:30. After lunch we could split into 2 groups. One group takes train and the other return by bike (may be a different route to Amsterdam).

Calories
Boeren Pannenkoek : 700 KCal
Banana Pancake: 400 KCal (they add lots of sugar and butter)

And finally a note on weather. On sunny days pancakes taste better they say :). But even if it is not, even if it is raining, we will still be making the trip. So those of you with proper rain gear will find us at Haarlem station sharp 11:00.

PS: The restaurant is not willing to give any group discount unfortunately

To those coming back to Amsterdam: shall we bike back to Amsterdam through Nieuw Vennep to see the sand sculptures there as well?

I plan to bike from Rotterdam to Haarlem to join the event: anyone wants to join from R'dam or Leiden? (or any small town on the route?)

Hi Rajan, what if you join me on the way back, then? We will have no time constraints, the pancakes will give us extra energy, and you will be at least warmed up, and with a fallback option (train from The Hague) in case you see that biking is too much for you. How does it sound?

Hey, awesome meetup. Maybe you should change the starting time to 11:00 AM, though. It will not show up correctly on the calendar otherwise ;-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
