This group was started for adventure motorcycle riders to hit the roads and trails less traveled with the safety and camaraderie of riding buddies. Adventure rides can be organized to travel on any kind of road surface or off road any place in New Mexico ... and beyond. Ideally, membership will consist of a pool of different types of riders, so members can find riding buddies for whatever type of adventure ride they want to take.
An adventure ride generally involves riding well beyond the city limits, beyond paved roads, and beyond even fire roads and trails. In general, an “adventure” motorcycle is one designed to be ridden legally on paved roads and safely on dirt roads and beyond. That means they are not cruisers, baggers, touring bikes, sport bikes, or pure MXers, but they could be non-street legal bikes intended for off-road only adventure type riding.
Many rides will require a street legal bike first traveling on paved roads, then on dirt roads, fire roads, and trails depending on objective of the ride and the capabilities of rider and machine. However, legal off-road only rides can be organized, where the bikes must be trailered to the departure point. Also, members can meet just to practice, as we will need to trust in each other’s ability and bike. "Adventure" rides off paved roads require some additional qualifications and experience (i.e., beyond street skills) for safety and because those rides will likely be away from any immediate outside help. Members can also ride to no place particular only to sit around and gab, then go back home, because listening to other people's stories about their past adventure rides is always and adventure ride in itself.
