Spring Bulbs in Bloom

Enjoy the "Bulbs in Bloom Show" at the Botanic Garden  (Photo credit: Amy Landers / Abq Bio Park)

They have placed a display of 400 tulips, daffodils, and calla lilies inside of the Mediterranean Conservatory at the Botanic Gardens for their Spring Blooms Flower Show. With a little luck, the daffodils, tulips, pansies, and other early spring flowers might be blooming outdoors around the gardens as well. Only Mother Nature knows for sure. ;-)

We will meet in front of the ticket booths at 9:00 am. If you are running late, just come join us inside of the Conservatory. From there we will be going outside, weather permitting, to see what we can find blooming. A trip through the Aquarium is in order for those who have the time/interest.

Tickets for NM residents are $9.00 for adults, $4.50 for seniors 65 and older and include admission to both the Botanic Gardens and the Aquarium for the day. Parking is free. Bio Park hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. They also have discounts for students and military.

This is an informal meetup at a public venue. Everyone will be able to explore the gardens and aquarium exhibits at their leisure and free to leave whenever they choose. The Shark Reef Cafe inside of the Aquarium is a fun place to have lunch for those who choose to stay awhile and perhaps have a bite with their fellow shutterbugs.

Alison, feel free to ask any questions! That's one reason we meet-up to shoot together. I've learned so much from my fellow members. :)

The time at the Biopark was just what I needed this morning. Came home to find my home had been broken into while I was out shooting photos. Can't upload photos because my computer was stolen, among many other things. Be careful everyone-I learned today the B&E are on the rise again.

So sorry to hear about the burglary. Glad you are OK ~ considering.
I have worked with the Amer. Correctional Assn AND ADT Security. I hate to go "logical" but make sure you keep looking through your home checking for other items taken or out of place. A police report was taken immediately I hope?
Make sure doors AND WINDOWS are locked before leaving. If your garage has a door into the house LOCK that door before leaving. That way all "they" can steal is the stuff in the garage.

Not many flowers blooming, but lots of work (planting, cleaning, pruning) going on in the gardens. It was 29 degrees so not many people there ~ THAT was nice because I didn't have to hustle through crowds.

The Japanese gardens are always lovely. Don't forget the ponds and fountains. It's nice to do the walk around the gardens in the morning and do the aquarium (which is nicely air conditioned) in the late morning early afternoon.
I went to the Gardens/Aquarium last week and they now have a special tank near the jellies where you can "interact" with some of the rays but it is scheduled between 10am-2pm weekdays (at least that's what I thought it read) and not EVERY week day. I guess we have to ask one of the docents.
Looking forward to seeing you Ann S.

Don't let the morning cold keep you away in the morning! We will go to the nice, warm, indoor conservatory first! When we get done there we can go directly to the aquarium to be indoors there as well while it warms-up outside.

The hyacinths in my garden are blooming and I'm starting to see daffodils in bloom around Albuquerque, so the Botanic Garden should be very beautiful during our visit!
