Back by popular demand! The El Malpais National Conservation Area is offering 3 night hike/sensory walks this summer. Our budget is smaller, but our creativity is heightened. We will meet at the La Ventana Natural Arch (18 miles south on Hwy 117 from Exit 89) At 8:00 pm. From there we will slowly walk the 1/2 mile trail and make many stops to discover the wonders of the nocturnal world. This is a great program for families and kids of all ages. We will discuss how nocturnal creatures use their senses, experiment on our findings, and wait for our eyes to adjust to see the stars! Please wear closed toe shoes, bring a jacket for cooling weather, and bring one flashlight per family. Please note the meeting location, since the Arch has no address, this site won't take it as a meeting place. The ranger station is 7 miles to the North. For more information call Ranger Jenn at the BLM Ranger Station at[masked]-2918.
This will also be a fantastic opportunity to do time exposure photography, and sunset shot of the sandstone and arch!
