NOA Meeting "The Giver"

This month's book is "The Giver" by Lois Lowry

Description from http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/giver-lois-lowry/1100295882?ean=9780544336261:

Overview

Soon to be a major motion picture, The Giver, the 1994 Newbery Medal winner, has become one of the most influential novels of our time. The haunting story centers on twelve-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. Lois Lowry has written three companion novels to The Giver, including Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son.

Given his lifetime assignment at the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the receiver of memories shared by only one other in his community and discovers the terrible truth about the society in which he lives.

This pertains to all of the scheduled meetups-will we be starting or ending the named book when the time of the event happens?? That sounded waaay too formal but I had no other way to phrase it!!! I.e. on aug 6th are we starting "the giver" or ending it when everyine meets on that day?

Hi Aimee-On August 6th, we will be discussing The Giver so you should read it by then. However we are pretty informal so feel free to come even if you haven't finished it. Also--I will try to adjust the meeting so there is no wait list, but come either way!! I look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to come to the movie as well later in the month.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
