Not a question, but a requirement: For membership in our group, you need to have a Meetup Profile Photo of YOU (not the cat, favorite shoes or Eiffel Tower.) Please be sure there is a photo we can see here. Thanks.

That's me in the photo- the night of my first-ever Mardi Gras parade!

Please tell us your favorite genre, author, beverage or tell us all three.

Oh god, there are so many. I love historical fiction, biographies, kinda weird, out-there fiction (I'm sure that's not a category one finds often, but...), mysteries (but not the Sue Grafton kind, if you know what I mean), the classics (of which there are many I have not read yet), I have to confess to being obsessed with the Harry Potter books, but come on, who wasnt't? Favorite beverage- I'm a whiskey girl at heart, but I'd be hard pressed to find a beverage I didn't like.

In your opinion, what does a book group discussion add to your enjoyment of the reading experience?

I've never actually joined a book club before, but my family used to pass all of our books around and we would invariably end up having lengthy discussions over dinner, etc. about the books we read. I have such a love for literature that I love speaking with people about books we've read, books we should read. I think one of the main reasons I would love to join a group is so that I can get a steady supply of recommendations for new things to read. When a book really gets to me it feels like a friend, so I miss them when I finish them. When I find someone who has read a book I love I get so excited because it's like you are discussing some long-lost friend. I'm not sure what else to say to convey to you how much I would love to share in some great discussions and meet some new people.

If your Meetup "location" is NOT in the New Orleans area, please explain why you want to join our group. Thanks.

Hello! I'm new to the city (relatively) and looooooove to read, so I thought finding a book club would be a great way to meet new people and keep doing something I love.
