Re: [NOLA-boozenbooks] What Next?

The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood.  This is a futuristic novel about a totalitarian government formed by a racist, male chauvinist, theocratic-organized military coup .  The story is told from the point-of-view of a "handmaid" who is kept around for for reproductive purposes by the ruling class in an era of declining births.  While not ghostly, the dark theme may be good for halloween!

Hi again, all you connoisseurs of matters literary and liquid--

I hope you are enjoying "The Piano Tuner", which I just began reading.  I look forward to seeing you all next week for a very good discussion.

In the meantime, I thought we should start the process of selecting our books for our Meetups on October 25 and November 29.

So, please email me with your ideas--perhaps something ghostly for Oct? When you send the titles to me, please also include a sentence or two about the book and a link to more info online.

After I get about 7 titles, I will post a poll and everyone is invited to vote.  Top two will be our selections.  So, don't forget to vote.

We will probably not meet in December, unless you want to get together without a book title, to just enjoy some holiday drinks together at The Columns.

See you soon!
