Our Next Court House Lawn Event - Saturday, December 8th

Our next event on the lawn will be on Saturday, December 8th. We will set up on the old Court House lawn, facing King Street, directly across from Lightfoot's.

Loudoun County's Holiday Parade will be going on at the same time, on King Street, so we will be highly visible. and there will likely be lots of press. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the presence of the Atheist community in Loudoun County/Leesburg/Northern Virginia. If history is a guide, there will also be lots of opportunity to interact with the public.

We will be reading from Sam Harris' book, Letter to a Christian Nation, and from Darwin's Origin of Species. The podium will be open - anyone who wants to can read from those, or from any other writing relevant to the Atheist community.

We will set up prior to 9:00 AM and be there for the duration of the parade. We will break down no later than 2:00 PM because...

This is also the same day as Festivus! (http://tinyw.in/RsFf)

So Join us on the lawn and be part of what could be a fun and interesting day.

Dress warmly.

And don't forget to RSVP for Festivus.

Are you also handing out any literature? I don't know if I can make it w/ 3 little kids and their stuff going on - but had an idea when all of last year's controversy was going down. It might be a nice touch to hand out flyers with some sort of phrase on it like "Want to be good for goodness sake? We encourage you to support one of the following organizations." and then give a list of secular organizations working to help others during the holidays or just working to help others, help animals, help the environment, etc - basically something having a positive impact on the world. Maybe you have already done something like this, but if not - maybe next year - I could try to put something together.

So the HHMI holiday party is the Friday prior. As much as I'd like to be there at 9am, I seriously doubt I'll be able to show up before 11 as I will be in a rather unsuited state of mind. I will be there as soon as I can roll out of the hotel room. :)

No problem. I know you also have time-sensitive things to do after the kids event. Ellen is going to miss most of it too.
