NOVA Atheists Message Board › National day of prayer and prayer meeting at Loudoun County court house
Well, they are at it again!
There is currently a bible reading marathon going on at the county courthouse in Leesburg. It is scheduled to conclude before noon this Thursday, which is anti-constitutionally referred to as a "national day of prayer."
The county will then open up the government building for a prayer service, starting at noon in the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors’ Chamber at the Loudoun County Government Center, #1 Harrison St. SE. Their email says "All who have a heart to pray are welcome." This would appear to be an attempt to exclude atheists from a public event in government facilities.
Members of NOVA Atheist, Beltway Atheists, American Atheists, and any other atheist groups are urged to come to the Loudoun County court house this Thursday to protest this unconscionable trampling of our Constitution.
Sorry for the short notice - we were just alerted to this yesterday - and it IS a weekday, so most of you work, but, if possible, join us to display our disgust at yet another government exercise in radical christianism.
Meet us at 11:30 AM in the court yard on the west side of the building, by the parking garage. Bring a sign (THIS IS NOT A CHURCH!), and use your phone camera. Ask anyone who will talk to you why they are doing this on government property. Exercise your First Amendment rights, be civil, don't be disruptive, and don't get arrested. Hope to see you there. We will alert the media.
