I am curious if the lab's machine can be used for cutting glass. I have recently taken up stained glass as a hobby and would like to try cutting pieces on the laser if it is possible/allowed. I suspect there isn't a simple answer due to the variety of glasses.

Jeff, Not sure if someone answered you already. The laser cutter can only engrave glass - it will not cut through. The engraving can be used to make a score line, which you can heat and cool repeatedly to make a clean break. This technique won't work for intricate patterns - only parting large pieces.- ted

Thanks Ted! No, I had not yet received an answer but figured it would be covered in class. Engraving might be fine. I'll probably bring some samples of different glasses to class in case we have a chance to play with them.
I am interested in attending if there is room for one more.
