Maker Faire NOVA

Nova Labs is a sponsor and part of the organizing committee to bring the first Maker Faire NOVA to our area.  This is a celebration of creativity, with interactive exhibits and demonstrations that's family- and kid-friendly.  It will be held at the South Lakes HS and Langston-Hughes Middle School campuses.  Go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nova-mini-maker-faire-2014-tickets-10421806905 to get tickets - everyone will need a ticket to attend (RSVPing to this Meetup isn't sufficient).

The details here will be updated as we continue in the planning process, so check back often.  The information at http://makerfairenova.com will be updated first.

Follow us at @makerfairenova on Twitter, and http://Facebook.com/MakerFaireNova on Facebook.  If you'd like to help sponsor the event contact us at [masked].

If you can help volunteer, check out the signup at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/805054FA9AF238-mini to see how you can help.  (Thank you!)

Just as cool as Maker Faire NYC/SF, but in a manageable, bite size chunk.

I was thrilled to see how many people attended the show. Kudos the the demonstrators who took every opportunity to educate both the children and adults who attended. Best $20 I have spent in a long time.

I would like to present at NOVA Fire project we making at Hobby-Place Gaithersburg MD. It is educational playground “Remote Controlled Module”.
We use it for teaching youngsters to estimate risk by doing something.
After playing with module youngsters learn basic: Life is not computer game.
Basically “Remote Controlled Module” is transportable box with no access by hands. There are transparent window at player’s cockpits and windows for spectators.
Inside Module miniature landscape build. There are bridges, mounting serpentine and other dangerous objects.
Players have to complete certain mission inside Module or they can do whatever they want, but only with help of remote controlled or preprogrammed devises. Multiple players can operate simultaneously. Players can rent devises existing inside Module or can bring/build his remote controlled or preprogrammed machine to perform inside “Remote Controlled Module”.
First and only rule so far: No access by hand!

I've invited at least 15 people to this with a mix of adults and children. I'm guessing at least 10 will attend.

I think the times on this even in Meetup are wrong. It is listed as Sunday, March 16,[masked]:00 PM to Monday, March 17, 2014, 6:00 PM.

The makerfairenova.com site lists the times as 11a-4p on the 16th.

You might want to correct this.
