Intro to Wearable Electronics Workshop

• Learn the art of Wearable Electronics and Soft Circuits!

Do you want to learn how to customize clothing with electronic functionality?

Do you want to learn how to make fabric sparkle and shine with LEDs?

Did you go to the Bicloone presentation, and want to learn how to do that yourself?

Join us for an Intro to Electronic Wearables. This class is for anyone who has ever wanted to learn the basics of soft circuitry, enhanced clothing, and adding blink to nearly anything. You will sew a design with LEDs and a microcontroller onto a non-stretchy article of your choice. Good options are cloth bags, hats, felts, and woven fabrics, which you should bring from home. If you need an article provided for you, please leave a comment so that we know what to make available for purchase at the class.

Please leave a comment stating the color of additional LEDs that you would like included in your kit, from the following list. If you do not comment, you will get white LEDs by default:

Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, Pink, Purple

Advanced attendees are welcome to bring additional wearables platforms such as Flora, Lilypad, Squarewear, and Gemma. Please leave a comment if you would like a Bill of Materials for more advanced projects such as:

-Turn Signal Biking Jacket
-Motion Activated Sparkle Skirt
-LED Glimmer Tiara
-Chameleon Scarf

We won't be able to complete the advanced projects the day of the workshop, but code and tutorials will be made available for you to get started.

Things need to be ordered. Also, there I think we are really pushing the space limit since the Aruduino group is meeting in the other room. With teams we are at about 16.

Of course! Here's the supply list for the Chameleon Scarf. You'll need to order the electronics and bring them to the class, but I can get you started from there.
