Porting to Python 3

  • October 18, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Andrew Kuchling (@akuchling) speaks on porting to Python 3.

Summary:

I'll take three small-to-medium libraries or applications from the Python Package Index and discuss the process of porting them to Python 3.3. Topics will include a short overview of the differences between Python 2 and 3, converting code with the 2to3 tool, and the issues presented by string/Unicode processing.

Level:

Intermediate. Aimed at developers who haven't tried porting anything to Python 3.x yet.

In response to someone asking about Python tutorials I mentioned that I saw one produced by Google -- here's the link:

Scroll down to see the list of Python tutorials.

This was the first time I attended a NOVA-Python meeting and I'm glad I went -- the lecture was excellent, the speaker very knowledgeable and the facilities were quite nice. Thank you Ryan, for organizing this.

I would like to attend and learn more about Python but won't be able to make it. When will the next meeting be held?
