Sr Research Architect

Overview/Job Summary

Investigates and evaluates technology areas for potential use in NeuStar hardware and software applications.  Identify, document, communicate and provide accurate design approach for scope of work.  Efficiently and reliably develop implementation utilizing necessary technologies.  Comprehensively validate implementations or other team member's implementations.


Responsibilities/Key Tasks

·        Leads research efforts in software technologies, ranks alternatives

·        Maintains currency in software technology by association memberships (IEEE/ACM)

·        Regularly reads and reports on software technology literature (Books and magazines)

·        Leads team efforts in software and infrastructure planning

·        Manages team effort in budget-level estimation for future work

·        Leads team design activities, providing overall direction

·        Devises novel architectural approaches where appropriate

·        Evaluates designs against group standards and practices

·        Provides overall team implementation leadership, monitors and reports progress

·        Implements prototype designs using C++, Java or other languages and technologies as appropriate

·        Approves implementation technology selection

·        Evaluates implementations against group standards and practices

·        Provides overall team testing leadership, monitors and reports progress

·        Approves testing technology selection

·        Evaluates testing against group standards and practices



Qualifications/Education Requirement

·        Minimum of 10-12 years of experience with development and architectural design background

·        BS degree in CS-related field or Equivalent additional experience

·        Current development competency in C++, Java, scripting languages (Python a plus)
