PORTRAIT PRODUCTS & PRICING WORKSHOP WITH DIANA ADAMS

  • March 5, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Diana has years of experience running a successful portrait photography business in Fairfax County.  The meetup is for those members who are getting started in the portrait photography business, and who need some guidance on pricing their services and with their product offerings.

This workshop will focus on the business side of portrait photography:

1. what type of products can you sell
2. what can you typically charge
3. where can you get your printing done
4. where can you purchase boxes, mats, framing materials, albums and books

All attendees should bring a copy of their current price list, and a notebook to sketch out a "revised" price list.

Diana will cover the factors that go into creating prices, and how to set up an effective price list, and how to direct clients towards what you hope to sell.

A key topic in the discussion will be what to charge to a 8x10 print, and what to charge for a digital file.

Thank you all for coming out on a snow night! I really enjoyed meeting all of you, and devoutly wish someone had shared the ideas I shared with you when I was starting out. I was in the dark. Had to reinvent the wheel. You are a really interesting group of phototographers.

Truly find input from Diana to be extremely helpful—second class taken at her studio and it's been a joy! She really gave great insight on pricing and what to think about.

Excellent workshop with Diana---eye-opening and frank chat about pricing. I'm so off the mark on pricing that it's just plain sad. :-(

Excellent. Diana gave us good guidelines for portraits as a business still holding to the concept that we are artists.

As of now it looks like it is just rain until late tonight. The heavy snow isn't supposed to kick in until 3 a.m. So we will probably be ok. But I guess checking thoughout the day will determine more.

Will there be a determination if this event will be postponed?
Since I live an hour west of the event I would like to so I can plan accordingly.
    Thanks.

Question, if this snowy weather becomes heavy snow tomorrow night, is there a chance to post-pone this workshop?

Just my two cents- would prefer if this was postponed, for safety reasons...

I'm hoping for post-poning as well for safety. I'm not too keen on being worried about trying to drive through the middle of a storm. I suppose tomorrow midday will be a better determination.

That's a great question considering the storm that is predicted

Sorry, I can't make this. Conflict with a school activity. Please give my spot to someone else.

Maybe, just maybe. I'll be more definite this weekend!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
