Strategies for going mobile (supporting mobile workers)

Learn how your organization can realize greater efficiencies for staff by going mobile.

Workers are increasingly on the go. The work day may stop at 5pm, but the work doesn't. With email, smartphones and social media sites like twitter and facebook, your clients and staff are increasingly connected. How do you adapt the organisation to support these new demands on work?

At this session, learn:

  • Practical tips to supporting mobile workers
  • Evolving practices from organisations to go mobile
  • Policies and processes for the organisation to go mobile
  • Procurement - how to procure and support the range of devices
  • Hardware support and providing accessible connections for smartphones, tablets, laptops, wifi, printing

If you weren't able to make it, here's a great recap done by Tierney from TechSoup Canada!

In sharing his insights, I think Douglas laid out a good overall framework to make and support the case for "going mobile" to improve productively and effectiveness. The interactive nature of this session was very helpful. Thanks Douglas and Kelly for hosting a discussion of this relevant topic!

Kelly - I'm wondering if this should be renamed "supporting the mobile worker"

This session is not about web development (getting websites more mobile-friendly on smartphones and tablets) - This session is about organisations and managers supporting the mobile worker.

Hi Brian - I believe that will be a separate discussion - one for the future. I know that TechSoup Canada has presented on this quite a bit!

Kelly and Douglas- what a great topic ! Will you be touching on the possibilities of non profits exploring more engagement with their constituents via creation of mobile apps and mobile sites? Or it that a top for for separate session?
