7:00PM - 8:00PM - Presentation: Exploring Haptics: See me, feel me, touch me, heal me

Haptics - the sense of touch, promises to add new dimensions of user interaction and feedback to devices we use. We hear about it for mobile devices, but there are many more applications where touch feedback is critical.

In fact, first and second degree robotic interfaces put their operators out of touch with the “sense of touch”, sometimes making precise natural user interfaces the difference between life and death.

Spend an evening exploring haptics, discussing and experiencing new approaches and future challenges facing this ever-growing field of human-machine interface.

Ken Steinberg, founder of Cambridge Research & Development (CRD) and CEO of Cambridge Surgical Instruments ( ) will discuss his team's journey through the field of haptics and how a blindfolded robotic surgeon helped culminate the creation of a new haptic interface.

8:00PM - 8:30PM - Hang Out - Network

To get to WeWork Labs: The entrance to WeWork is on Charlton Street. You'll enter through a black door that says WeWork on it, go straight up several steps and go through another door. Then, you'll see the elevators to your left. Go to the 4th floor. The Meetup sign in desk will be right there as you exit the elevator.

Fascinating. NUI Central presents things that one can't easily find and/or access anywhere else.
