Marin NVC Practice Group - Now Forming!

Hello lovelies!

Longtime Fairfax resident Eric Altshuler and I are conspiring to bring Marin Compassionate Communication back to life, starting with a newly forming practice group in Fairfax on Sunday evenings. You are warmly welcomed to join us!

How can we use our communication skills to serve a softening, an opening to life, rather than as a buffer against it? How can we use NVC, in particular, to drop down out of the mind and move closer to the heart while navigating challenging conversations?

My focus in this practice group is to support you in building your NVC skills and capacity to speak (and listen) from the heart, in a way that is simultaneously real and compassionate.

Come for the healing power of empathy, to role play scary conversations from your life in a supportive environment, to deepen your awareness of what resides in you at the core of conflict, and to practice expressing yourself boldly and making clear requests from a place of self-connection and compassion.

Incorporating practices from NVC, nondual spiritual practice, and somatics, I hold practice groups as a sacred container in which to explore inner and outer conflict, deepen into self-compassion, and practice ways of communicating with others that are connecting, real, and grounded in presence.

At each gathering, we begin with a brief guided meditation, and then move into NVC practice, including skill-building exercises, empathy practice in the group, and role playing challenging conversations in our lives – all the while giving deference to what is “alive” in real-time in the group.

This group is for folks with all levels of NVC experience.

Pre-requisite: Please read Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, or have attended an introductory workshop.

Private residence in Fairfax.

Sliding scale: $20-$30 per evening requested. Kindly contact me if financial restrictions would keep you away.

2nd and 4th Sundays
Beginning March 10th and 24th
6:30-9pm

ADDITIONAL OPTION FOR WOMEN: If you are unable to make this time, and are interested in a women's NVC circle, contact me as this just may be in the works.

About the facilitator: Marina Smerling is a former attorney who is here to launch a love bomb on the epidemic of shame in our world. She is a relationship coach, mediator, and counselor, who draws upon her long-time practice in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to help us speak our truth with compassion.
