Talk about NVC and "Beyond NVC"

this event is now full.

Remember to call[masked] for address and directions to the venue.

Looking forward to seeing you all next Thursday.

Hi community,

This is a *learning* event: I am eager to share some of my collected "wisdom" from 2 decades of working with - and trying to understand - human being and behavior. My hope is that this could help "NVC-ers" in their integration and application of NVC. // Maja

NVC and Beyond - Presentation, reflection and discussion.

This presentation is to bring an integrated perspective on Nonviolent Communication (NVC), with the hope and intention to make NVC easier for you to use, integrate, and share.

We'll talk about
– underlying principles and spiritual roots from the field of Nonviolence,
– a map of human being,
– the dynamics at play in situations where we often want to apply NVC,
– why NVC is so easy to "learn" yet so hard (for most of us) to "live",
– the role of belonging in life, healing and growth.

This presentation is primarily intended for people who already use and share NVC (it will NOT include clarifying/explaining the basic model or distinctions of NVC); but it is OPEN to anyone – whatever their relationship to NVC – as long as people come knowing the scope and would like to learn from the intended focus.

Maja Bengtson has worked - in a range of roles - with NVC for over a decade in the SF Bay Area, and prior to that with facilitating personal transformation in Sweden since 1991. In the last couple of years she’s focused on research to understand human being and behavior, trying to answer questions like “what makes us humans take to violence?”. She is currently a research fellow at Metta Center for Nonviolence. Blog, bio and website at

Please RSVP through this site, AND call[masked] for address and directions to the venue.

I wanted to remind people to call[masked], to get address and directions and "pre-meet" my friend who has offered her house for this. (This is the first MeetUp I ever organize, so I am unsure about who sees this comment. )

Hope we get to talk about the possible violence of NVC...

By violence I don't necessarily mean something negative, I mean trying to force a conversation into an nvc model when it is not wanted by the other person, but I guess in some situations it is necessary o good for learning...thanks for asking Maja! Ill try to bring real examples...

thanks, your example is along the lines I imagined... and one that is so so sad for me to see happening, over and over. this is where I actually hope that some of this "beyond" framework can help... Anyways. we'll talk more when in person at the event. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Please consider this a "maybe" as if I book a client I will have to work.
