As NVC'ers we crave authenticity and feeling, but sometimes things can get a little heavy. Here's a light-hearted community event for everyone to have some fun.
I organize these events to bring more real-life interaction, authenticity and fun as well as build community here in Oakland. Come and see what it's all about! Tell a story yourself if you want!
StorySlams are open-mic events where people tell and listen to true stories. You don't have to tell a story to enjoy the show.
If you do want to tell a story, be sure to arrive by 7pm at the latest to put your name in the hat. Storytellers will be chosen at random.
The rules for storytellers:
5 minutes or less (we'll time you!);
stories must be true and about YOUR life;
improvised or told from memory (no notes);
and touch on the theme in some way.
This month's theme is: dating stories: the good, the bad and the ugly.
You don't have to tell a funny story. It can be heartfelt, real, and reflect some truth that you learned along the way.
Our very own George Vassilades will be one of the judges!
Pizza, cupcakes, beer and wine and other drinks will be available for purchase.
