Neighborhood Garden/Homestead Crawl!

***UPDATE*** Hey all, I set a time/date. Let me know how it works. We have about 7 members from NW Home Gardeners Meetup too. Also it turns out you'll have to email me at [masked] so I can invite you to edit our Crawl Map :) ***

I had this idea originally on:
http://www.meetup.com/NE-Portland-Homesteaders/events/62527222/
so I'm reposting it for our group here :)

*******************************************************
Let's see what others are growing, show off our own acreage, & get ideas from each other!

If you'd like to see, just RSVP.
If you'd like to see AND show off YOUR garden, may I suggest

1-posting a comment below &

2-adding to this map I created here. (I realize some aren't as tech savvy as others, so if you just post your address below, I will add it for you).

As this grows, I will create a little agenda & route for us. If it's very spread out, I can just break it into legs. I'm a project manager, so hopefully I can handle this :)

It would be fun to have a "summer sequel" crawl too, to see how everyones' gardens turned out :D

    PLANT MARKERS!--BETTER THAN YOGURT CONTAINERS!
I wanted to tell you all about this: I use old venetian blind slats for plant markers, writing stays on longer than on yogurt containers & they are flatter & easier to handle.
We took out my old vertical blinds & put up shades, so I have about a million slats here. You are all welcome to take what you like.
This is the easiest way I've found to mark seeds/plants in the garden, & free.
Write me [masked] if you want some slats..

This was a great tour- so many beautifully planned and planted garden spaces. There were many ideas for incorporating into my garden and much information exchanged. Lovely tour! Thanks, Christopher, for organizing!

The garden tour was well planned and very interesting, the gardens very individual. I liked it especially because we were all hosts and we all got to see each other's gardens with no hassle. It was very laid-back, and we got to see some beautiful plants and structures. For me there was a lot of "I wish I'd thought of that!" & I got a lot of ideas.

I tried to post a message but don't see it here, also I tried to mark my place on the map but there was no "placemark button," so I thought maybe I should let you know: 7130 NE Oregon, it's 1 block North of Glisan on the corner oF Oregon & 72nd. Please let me know if you want to come, as I said, there are a lot of weeds & many flowers. I hope to have the tomatoes planted by the weekend, right now Peas are coming up and melons in garage under lights, squash waiting to germinate.

I just joined the group, & I explained that my yard blooming like crazy, but it is a mess. However if you all would like to come see the flowers you're very welcome. I can explain what I'm trying to do, & identify some of the flowers and vegetables, and you could help me identify a lot of weeds.
My address is 7130 NE Oregon St, corner of Oregon & 72nd, in Montavilla.

    Oh it is epic :)
OK: itinerary. I'll post a message here mid/late week, after everyone has had time to submit their own place. I'm thinking start far out (my place) and work our way West, taking about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes at each local... If you have requests for an earlier/later time, post it here!
