I really enjoy growing vegetables of all sorts and would also like to grow herbs. I have read (and own) every book my Mel Bartholomew, the founder of Square Foot Gardening and continue to be fascinated by his work. It just makes too darn much sense to ignore, especially in this day and age.
This will be my first year as I've just recently returned to the NW. I've had previous sucess in Tucson, Arizona and Salt Lake City, Utah though. Also, one of the criteria while looking for a house to rent was having room for a garden. Where I ended up not only has room, it came with an existing 20' x 20' area already growing, from the previous tenant. This Spring, I hope to do much more with the area than has been in the past.
Yes. I am in a smaller Vancouver home, with a large yard and would be willing to host an appropriately sized group. I would even be open to dragging out the grill, and hosting a potluck with everyone contributing some sort of dish.
I would, but do not feel I have the knowledge as of right now. Perhaps if I could get certified in Square Foot Gardening and there was enough interest.
No, not specifically as I'm retired. I imagine collectively, the weekends would work best for the group, but can generally adapt. I am also planning to start Clark College in the near future, but so far, haven't been able to get the classes I want. Even once I do, I'm guessing the weekends will still be fine.
Hello to those with the green thumbs. Despite trying, I'm still not worthy, but refuse to give up. Even as a child, one of the most amazing sites to me is when a seed has just germinated, prior to even showing true leaves. Always worth a smile. : )
I believe NW Home Gardening is going to be a great personal fit. I'm glad to be part of the group.
