Why I Love Slugs

Slugs are MOTIVATIONAL! I need to control them if I want great vegetables and fruits in my garden beds. Slugs love wet decaying vegetation. When I pull out dead leaves and stalks and pull away last year's broken down mulch I can control them. Bonus- now I can pick out the weeds, opportunistic seedlings and volunteers to plant elsewhere. Then I can lay down this year's compost and cover it up with the dead stuff I just pulled away. The soil will stay soft and moist. It will be easy to pull out the tiny new weeds next time and I won't have to water as often in dry weather! Thanks, slugs!
