Hi, all! We have 84 cooks on the list now, and some people have left. I haven't had a chance to send individual welcome messages to the new members, so consider yourselves welcomed: Margaret, Courtney, Katelyn, Katie, Roona, Miss J, Gary, Diane, Kacie and James.
May was an especially busy month for me, so I'm behind in my Meetup duties, especially posting my recipes. I'm catching up though. For tonight's swap I made breakfast bars, and made them twice- each a little different. So I've got some more typing to do.
Don't forget, if you can't make it on Monday nights, we also now have a mid-month food swap on the third Wed of the month (that's a rough guideline, and it can change). Jill has hosted it the past couple of months and that's worked out well.
CHANGES AND OTHER RECENT DETAILS

Judy, our regular interpreter can't make it tonight. So my friend Julie will be here instead.
GUIDELINES FOR COOKING / SHARING
A quick summary of guidelines for new folks (and a reminder for the rest of us):
We agreed to cook vegan, not vegetarian meals to accommodate our members who don't eat dairy. Bring 12 servings of whatever you decide to make, and let your conscience be your guide as to what comprises a "serving." You'll take 10 servings home with you-- one will be opened for us all to taste, the other will be use to "pay" the interpreter (I'm deaf, so is my partner, Betty). Freezing your servings is fine, and plastic containers and baggies are okay to use.
- Strict: vegan dishes only, please avoid all dairy including whey protein.
- Not strict but preferred: sugar free (Spenda, etc.) or low glycemic (agave nectar)
- Not strict but preferred: avoid white flour, white rice, white pasta, etc.
- Not strict but preferred: use organic/local produce when feasible
Recipes will be appreciated, you can post them online on the "files" section of the website, or bring paper copy with you, or both. Also I'll be setting up a collection jar for donations to pay for this website. It's $19/month for the group, and you can see the group finances on the meetup site.
PLACE AND PHONE
I'm at 5021 Wayne Ave. in Germantown, 19144-- between Manheim and Seymour Streets. Ring the doorbell so the light system works, there's no sound on our bell. Tucker will be all tuckered out at the end of the night greeting everyone. He's a sweetie, so don't let him scare you when he barks! We also have cats, but you probably won't see them. Phone nbr is [masked] video relay.
Other than cooking today if you haven't already you should:
- Check out the site for more info. NW Philly Vegetarian/Vegan Food Swap
- Check your RSVP status and change it if you have to. (If it's locked out, just call me, leave a msg if I don't answer.
I think that covers it. Replies to this email will only come to me, and if needed, I'll send out another email with followup info. See you tonight.
