Thanks all of you for joining me and Andee on one of the great Gorge hikes/climb. It was such a nice day and this one never seems to get tiring. Just like Ruckel Ridge its never boring as you are constantly changing your surroundings as you climb to the top! Also its one of the few with a register, we last did it in April. Perhaps 15 folks had done it between our trips.

Mystery Hike 1 me 1 ... finally one of Rick's harder hikes didn't have me swearing at the end. My first a) harness ride, b) using a prusik knot and 3) batmanning. It was a great experience and I have the scars to prove it. Thanks Rick and everybody else who spent the fabulous day with me and the great scenery.

I REALLY wish that I could go on this one and hope that you do this hike again maybe in the late spring or next fall. Quite frankly, I have been too busy lately to fish (and if I don't have time to fish, then I certainly don't have time to hike) and I am not in shape to do this right now. I don't want to slow the group down...
I also don't have equipment or experience with rope (though in my younger days I climbed a few places on MSH and in Glacier National Park where I should have been roped) but would welcome an opportunity to learn. I'll work on building my strength & stamina and down the road perhaps use some REI dividends for a harness....
I hope that you all have a BLAST! Be safe and enjoy what should be some great weather.

The moment of truth: last time we hiked down this trail, I misjudged the height of a rock I was climbing down and almost fell from a cliff. Luckily, Olga was nearby and helped me regain my balance. The bottom line - this is a dangerous hike with some scary exposures, but also a very fun one. I have a medical issue and don't think I want to climb this on painkillers, they make me disoriented.
