Guess I'm getting lazy but I have been thinking about doing Mt Hood again. This time how about a ride to 8500 feet or so. That leaves less than 3000 to climb.
(Pictures from last years climb by Magnus)
Skiers could ski down, the rest of us either walk or glissade where we can...
I am still in the planning stage, Maximum on the Snow Cat is 12 people with gear for a cost of $500 .
We will divide the cost evenly over the total going. Once we are committed there will be no refunds of the cost of the ride.
I will be selecting people from the wait list. Give me a good argument why you would want to go with a guy with not much mountaineering experience.
The date may and probably will change so be aware that weather, snow conditions and other factors will decide that.
We will need gear, so far I have 2 pickets, a 70 meter rope, a 30 meter rope and various other climb gear.
Individual will need Crampons Ice axe Harness .
I would like a few more pickets. A few experienced mountaineers wouldn't hurt either.
Plan so far is to set a strong anchor at the top of the chute for us to use up and down. Belaying could be possible but I am hoping a fixed line will suffice.
12 seems like a big group but the old mazamas would take lot larger groups than this.
Btw, you can pretty much follow the route with all the black dots on the above photo. The gap with all the dots is the Old Chute.
