What else can you do with your GPS? Go on a Geocache hunt.
You will need:
• A GPS ( a GPS enabled phone will work. Geocaching.com has a phone app., but Android app C:geo works better)
• Geocaching.com account - you need to create an account before the Meetup so you can download the geocache information into your gps and printout the clues.
• Computer to download Geocaches to your GPS.
• Paper and pencil to write down clues and solve riddles in the field.
• Camera - some Geocaches are virtual and require an email to be sent.
Powell Butte Geocaches to download: (Please make sure you have these downloaded into your phone, gps or print them out. The C:geo app works better than the Geocaching app but is only for Android )

We will generally go to places that have multiple Geocaches so we can split up and locate the caches in Round Robin Order. We'll have a list of caches and attendees and determine who starts where. These will be held once or twice a month during the winter in various places around town.
If you do not have a gps, you can join another person who has one and work as a team. This is not a class about how to use a GPS. You should already know how to use your gps. We will form teams of 2-4 at the trailhead.
Note: I learned that the Geocaching.com phone app doesn't always download all caches, hence the list above so you can be sure you have them all for the event.
The regular entrance to Powell Butte is under construction.
Please wear clothing and gear appropriate for the weather. These trails can be muddy and this trip happens even if it rains. The exception would be extreme weather conditions.
ACCOMPANY ME AT YOUR OWN RISK:
I assume no liability for your safety getting to or from the trailhead or during the event. In case of accident, illness, or other incapacity, hikers must pay for their own medical and/or evacuation expenses, whether or not the hiker has specifically authorized them.
