Join us for the first annual “24 hour Defiance”. We will start early in the morning and climb Defiance until we can't any longer, up to 24 hours. Join us to climb once, twice, three times or if you are up for it four times.
For me it all started pretty innocently with one, then two and over time several hikes up Mount Defiance. Later I heard about some crazy Mazamas that completed the Triple D hike: Devil's Rest, Mount Defiance and Dog Mountain, all in one day. We decided to try that hike with this group which we did last year. Soon thereafter I heard about Mayhem's version of the Triple D which was three times up Defiance, all in one day. His trip report suggested that he would have liked to do it a fourth time. Let's see if he is up for that.
Mount Defiance is the hike in the gorge with the highest altitude gain at just short of 5,000 feet. The loop is around 12 miles. It's often used as a training hike for climbing Mt. Hood, which has a similar altitude gain. That would be one loop. Only nuts would do it more then once...
I want decent weather for this event. We are using October 6th as a rain day. Details to follow closer to the event date.
